ORISHA TWI - "Quiet
Whispers To The Deaf" CD-R (CSR 021, 1 copy left!)
Haunting and deep-heavy chants, yowls, drones n tones from the duo of
ORISHA (Adam Kriney) and TWI (Anthony Lebron) that heave massive primal
chunks of comet and space matter into the aural spheres. Usually Kriney
(ORISHA) mans the helm as drummer for NYC freak-jazzers OWL SOUNDS and
psych-seekers LA OTRACINA (as well as DEAD GIRLS, LUST IONICS, and touring
jaunts with CASTANETS and THE PLACES) but as ORISHA his sound world is
a distorted confusion of tripped-slipped vocal illusions, slabs of synth
thud, and feedback washed ecstacy. Lebron (TWI) could be found releasing
numerous gorgeous solo and collab CD-Rs on the fantastic LEARNING THE
LANGUAGE label, dancing in the worlds of twisted noise-scapes, delicate
and intricate vocal/acoustic guitar intertwinings, and truly blissed blood-ridden
and sweat-induced (i.e. HUMAN!) electronic explorations. Together these

slabs of fukt-gorgeous sounds by LIEK-DF (Hektor Fontanez and Dave Ferraro)
and DEAD GIRLS (Alfred Telehuahua & Moose "Hank" O'Brien),
two NYC based teams pushing the realms of more-than-just-twistin’-knobs
experimental sonics/noise. These boys ain't fakin' it, this is the real
deal, this shit is to be filed under blow-off-your-dome fresh new-soundz!
The LIEK-DF track explores nuances of acoustic guitar, clashing galaxies,
swirling reversed tones, and rumblings from the magical towers in the
Lower East Side, sheer beauty glazed over with yellow and orange cosmic
goo, this is some heavy shit, just let it take you baby! DEAD GIRLS, on
the other hand engage a more brutal place in the fields of time, phased
out synths and haunting drum rumblings give way to epic destroying skull-fucked
noise-core, completely engulfing all in their path, but with the deadly
grace of a guillotine, protect yer neck! All of this sound is barely contained

QUIVERS "Once
There Were Some" CD-R (CSR o26, 1 copy left!)
Trashed-up punk-jazz art-rock by some NYC freaks who ain't fakin' it,
and remember that even carefully scalped heads still reveal a mess of
blood and gore; with this analogy we at Colour Sounds present the new
offering of sacrificial pleasure, the debut release by QUIVERS entitled
"once There Were Some". Formed out of the incestuous and diverse
improv/experimental music scenes of NYC, the core of the group began as
collaborations between electric guitarist Ninni Morgia (THE RIGHT MOVES/LA
OTRACINA), upright bassist Jordan Schranz (THE EASTERN SEABOARD), and
vocalist Marie Evelyn. Somewhere down the line, these cats stumbled upon
wrong-drummer Adam Kriney (OWL XOUNDS/BLIZZARDS/LA OTRACINA) and figured
they should play some shows together. After several successful revelatory
performances to typically unappreciative/confused NYC audience members,
these 4 bastards headed into the studio to lay it out and give birth to
god's marmalade mystery baby, in sound form. A real ride through truly
odd improvised rock/anti-jazz bullshit skronk, on the heavy speed meets
LSD trip and on the mushrooms meets cocaine trip. No slop folks, these

times and masses, brought to you by the usual suspects of drummer Adam
kriney and upright bassist Gene janas, with new recruits, alto sax-ist
Darius Jones (of BIRDS IN THE MEADOW/TANAKH and collab-er with Cooper-Moore/Chad
Taylor/Andrew D'Angelo/etc) and acid-rockit electric guitarist Gene Moore
(Ecstatic Peace recording artist, member of HAT CITY INTUITIVE (also on
Ecstatic Peace)). The quartet effectively destroy the 4th dimension, with
reeling psych-rock bombast, post ESP free-jazz orgasm, and bistering punk-noise-horror.
Compositionally dense and erratically accelarated, this live performance
from the Glasshouse Gallery in Brooklyn, NY is an expedition in redefinition
of the basis/rules/attachments of music with respect to linearity and
propulsion, worm-holes ain't got shit on these boys! A serious out-jazz

Brooklyn, NY based moon-spirits LA OTRACINA. Piloted by freak-drummer

LA OTRACINA have been warping the sonic flux since 2003, with several
different formations, exploring the depths of sludged-out psychedelic

and secret sessions, all blazing forth with a tidal wave of rainbow powers.

OWL SOUNDS/BIRDS IN
THE MEADOW "Of Off Moon" split CD-R (CSR 022)
...In a space hovering just off the surface of moon, generators of vibrations
and tonal spheres emit into the wow of now...And just who is doing this
generating and this emiting? Just two of THEE most essential and blistering
underground freak-jazz units in the Northeast US, offering up a live side
each on this split disc of lunar exploration!
New York City's OWL SOUNDS are here, hashing out a screaming yet melodic
set, in their "Unseen Rhythmics" mode of Kriney-Janas-Borra,
wrapped in a blanket of ESP fueled fire and spazz-punk fueled energy.
While the aformentioned fire could easily be due to Randy Borra who studied
under Jimmy Lyons and Gene Janas who spent time performing with Bern Nix,
it is Kriney's hardcore/punk fueled drum styles that really propel things
to the next stage. "Live At Kingsland Tavern" features Janas'
dizzying bass-bows and Borra's relentless lyrical lines cross through
all sorts of jazzness while shifting free/polyrhythmic utterances from
Kriney steer the group through sections of delicacy and density. This
would most likely be the last time original member Borra would perform
with OWL SOUNDS, and in that celebration, the boys delight in Albert Ayler
quotations and their oft-visited interpretation of Marion Brown's "Homecoming".
Richmond, Virginia's BIRDS IN THE MEADOW is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist/computer/electronics-whiz
Marty McCavitt. BITM's vision is a sort of meeting between the world of
live improvised free-music and immediate responses from McCavitt's own
software programming, to unexpectedly vibrant and real-time results. The
group has a rotating cast inlcuding: sax-ist Darius Jones who plays in
his trio LITTLE WOMEN, TANAKH (Alien8 Recordings), a trio with Cooper-Moore
& Chad Taylor, FROM BACTERIA TO BOYS (w/ Mike Pride), etc; phenomenal
Richmond free-music/jazz/avant drummer Brian Jones; and electronics/noise-wizard
Kenny Yates of HARM STRYKER. This particluar side from BITM features the
duo of McCavitt and Darius Jones, in a thrilling and genre-defying mash-up
of live-electronic/laptop and sax improv. Darius' palate scans the patterns
of out-ness, from skwaks to squeals to trills and growls, while McCavitt's
laptop whirs from bug tones to black noise, dulcimer samples, and melodic
interplay with Jones. Fucking fantastic!

INTUITIVE/BIG NURSE "The World Will End Yesterday" 3-way split

This is the LAST HURRAH, just look around you, The World will end/has
ended/won't stop ending, better dig in while you can! It is with this
realization of both joy and exhiliration that Colour Sounds presents this
offering of collaborative sonic wonder, pushing the density of sound to
it's limit and errupting with the most raw of pure tones imaginable. "The
World Will End Yesterday" features fearless and immediate sounds
from three groups of the noise underground each in pursuance of freedom
in a different direction, but all arriving at the same point, TOTALITY!
HAT CITY INTUITIVE have been kicking around the underground of lost musics
since 1991, releasing their first LP "Happiness Is A One Trick Pony/Crying
Is Shaped Like A Seahorse" on Matt Valentine's Superlux label in
1995, the "They Must be Clapping For...Me" CD on Crank Automotive
in 2000, and more recently two self-isued full lengths "Narrow Miss
On The Chamber Pot" and "/....//../..// (grey goose & a
whole lotta hydro)". Featuring a large rotating cast of musicians
spread across various North Easters states, this collective explores the
various methods pioneered by AMM, ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO, AMON DUUL,
etc, into a flux of cult-laden psychedelic-skronk, multi-directional noise,
free-rock, and revolutionary jazz. The three slices of time they've devoted
to this compilation sound like what would happen if Ayler performed at
one of Kesey's Acid Tests...blasted!
LA OTRACINA is the psychedelic/prog vision of freak-drummer Adam Kriney
and since 2003 his collective has explored everything from the most complex-Crimson-esque
arrangements, to complete psychedelic-free-improv ala FUSHITSUSHA and
GURU GURU, and the cast of members/collaborators has included everthing
from stoner/acid-rockers to jazz/fusion headz to some of NYC's finest/fiercest
free-improvisors. The single track found on this compilation is a massive
slab of drone-layered/warped-freakout/acid-trip/sound collage action,
comprised of various live recordings taken from their 2006 "Elliptical
Envelopment" tour as the duo of Adam Kriney and Matt Lavallee.
BIG NURSE are a destroying hardcore/noise unit based out of Nashville/Murfreesboro,
TN whose menacing riffs and relentlessly pounding drums are full of devastation
ala the crustiest hardcore punk, mixed with a nod to blown-out anti-rock,
and layers of overloaded BLACK movement! Their two tracks on this compilation
explore both the seeking-improvisational confused/chaos momentum of free-music's
liberation as well as a tightness of song explosions on top of it, blazing
out and away!

OWL XOUNDS "Toxic
Raga" CD-R (CSR 024)
"Toxic Raga" marks the 2nd album from the OWL XOUNDS trio line-up
of Adam Kriney, Gene Janas, and Arrington De Dionyso, the first of which,
"Cow On Mushrooms", exploded onto the landscape last year heralded
by such folks as David Keenan, Alex Neilson, and James Toth (WOODEN WAND)
and being selected by Wire Magazine as one of the top jazz/improv albums
of 2005. After the sudden interest in the group, the trio decided to embark
on a Northeast US mini-tour and finish it up with a recording session,
which we now present to you.
The textures/times/vibrations embarked upon in this free-music setting
draw from the sewers of outsider-experimental jazz explorations and intuitive
appraoches to instant composition recieved from the cosmos above. Kriney's
clustered/blistering drumming assumes the role of pace and power, while
Janas' extraordinary upright bass innovations/antics allows the density
to fluctuate from a single buzzing bee to a blizzard's roar, and De Dionyso's
bass clarinet/vocal statements and allusions/illusions breathe the final
beautiful hush of towering xounds on which to meditate. As psychedelic
as a manhole cover and as gentle as a toothpick, the trio dance the magic
waddle of forgotten mystery, and sing songs of lost future legends and
reach inward plucking their pumping red heart from the cold dead hands
of this fucked EARTH.

"Moving/Pictures" marks the first vinyl release on Colour Sounds
Recordings, and drummer Adam Kriney declares "This is the most insane
record I've ever recorded", nuff said? A black sheet of improvised
sonic skull-fuckery from the depths of the most mind-splitting free-noise/brutal-jazz
movement, brought to you by the ad-hoc first/only recording of RUST IONICS,
the trio of freak drummer Adam Kriney (OWL XOUNDS/LA OTRACINA/BLIZZARDS/CASTANETS),
electric guitar wizard Doug Theriault (OFFICE PRODUCTS/DUAL, collab-er
with Wally Shoup/Jeph Jerman/Brian Eubanks), and extreme sax-ist Ed Chang
(DUAL/SPIN-17/AGENTS At MIDNIGHT, collab-er with Marshall Allen/Ravi Padmanabha).
Full on grindcore/metal scapes clashed with fiercely extended saxaphone
use and a dynamic whirl of free-improvisational magic, all together a
blinding force, a drugged memory, and a leave-no-survivors presense. Comes
on transparent blue vinyl in a limited edition of 311 copies in a clear
